Helps speed up engine changes. Simply insert provided hex bar thru alignment tool into cam spud, align sliding pin with a 3/8 mounting bolt hole (either 10 o clock or 2 oclock) and then tighten down the pinch holding the hex. Then simply take tool to car, slide onto power steering pump hex rotate until sliding locating pin lines up with the mounting hole in the engine plate that you used on the block. Either keep with your engine changing bar or some teams keep one with every engine under the cabinet ready to go.
